A team of about 12 pickers works in the vineyard. It will take 10 days of work to harvest the entire area, but not 10 days in a row! We will wait until each plot is at optimum maturity. Also between the first bunch of grapes picked and the last, it will take almost a month.
At the Val d’Iris, all the grapes are picked by hand. The harvesting buckets are then gently transferred to boxes on the tractor trailer. Then Fabien drives the tractor and 5 minutes later, here is the grape in the cellar! Each box is then dumped manually into the destemmer to separate the grapes from the stalk. And then, cellar work begins…
